A Slightly Co-Dependent Valentine’s Day Poem

My sweet savior, my best friend

Who knew what you would mean to me?

So simple, so timeless,

but I find

I cannot breathe without you

You clear my head

and take away my pain

in a way no one else can

Because of you,

I feel human again

I love you, neti pot.

I woke up Monday morning with a sore throat and a stuffy nose that quickly morphed into one helluva a head cold that had me laid out, fighting for oxygen (and sleep), all week.  On this day for expressing our love, I thought I would write this poem to the thing that did me the greatest kindness this week, because each time I used it, I got at least a half hour of semi-normal breathing and a face that didn’t hurt so much.  It’s amazing how quickly your priorities in life can become refocused on what really matters.

I've been doing some form of creative writing since 9th grade, and have been a blogger since 2003. Like most bloggers, I've quit blogging multiple times. But the words always come back, asking to be written down, and they pester me if I don't. So here we are. Thanks for reading.
